What do you guys think?

I'm looking for a 22 that would be legal at the BCPR matches, and want the least-dollar option.

Any suggestions?

I'm open to suggestions, if you think I could get a better bang for the buck.

Bob, I don't have any experience with the Uberti rolling block .22 but it seems to be on the light side for competitive shooting. Don recently gave us a lot of info and insight to using a barrel liner in a .45/70 for competitive shooting with good results.

Roger that. But a good 45/70 is a couple thousand.

Bob, I shoot a Crossno insert .22 rimfire in a Shiloh .45/70, and it shoots really well. It shoots some of the cheaper grades of rimfire ammo well (e.g. Federal automatch, CCI Blazer), and performs really well w/ some higher grades (e.g. Wolf match, etc.). I don't know anything re: Uberti Arms.

Bob,

I know one Shooter who tried to do what you are and after putting on set triggers and MVA sights he is into it for about $1400 and still not competitive with what usually shows up for those matches. I'm looking for an original low-wall and the going price seems to be $2300 - $2600. At those prices I'll be looking for a long time. Sad

I got a pedersoli minie sharps that shoots very well, I have won a couple shoots here and around our part of the county. They sell for about 1400 but I got mine from cablas on sale for around 700. Not sure if they sell them anymore, I don't see them on their websight. Am very happy with this little gun very well made. Dave

Bob, I was guessing that you might already have a .45/70 to use with a barrel liner. Instead, have you looked at the Highwall or Low Wall from C. Sharps Arms? Those are made in .22 LR and they are not as expensive as a '74 Sharps. I'm thinking about one of those.
