Heres the old Ruger surronded by some friends. Those bullets are Creeker's .45x265 Keith bullets. Mighty fine stuff Big Grin

That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

What you using for powder? I've taken a real liking to 12 grs of bludot with those bullets.

Started with 8 gr. of Unique, but will try the BluDot also. For full charge loads I sorta like H-110!

Neat thing about the bludot, it gives +p velocity without the high pressure of 110/296

Blue Dot is the cleanest burning powder I have ever used.
Great powder for 9mm & .40 S&W.

38 grs. Goex 3F with a 250 gr. Keith SWC makes the .45 SA sit up and holler real good! You boys shootin that SP....are missing something!

Really not missing it. That bludot load out runs the bp load by 50+ fps, delivers a little better accuracy, and does it at the same pressure...
Shooting the bp is fun tho, but just not an everyday type of deal.

RE: Old Jim's 45LC loads
Guys, I've never shot BP in a cartridge revolver, and would like to know how often it's necessary to completely disassemble the gun to clean up the interior parts? I shoot a couple of percussion revolvers, and disassemble them every day I shoot them. Not a big job, but needed in those guns. Thanks.

The following is what I do it after each SASS match I shoot.
Handguns- Remove grips and FLUSH with Windex multisurface w/VINEGAR. Blow out with compressed air. Use your favorite spray lube, blow it out and put the grips back on.
Leverrifle-remove buttstock and do the same as'hanguns'.
Shotgun is the same as rifle.
Do NOT, lube with a 'dino' based lube.
Do NOT, use a smokeless bullet lube with BP.
"Borebutter", is a very good lube for BP guns.
I use Eezox, for everydangthing ...

Gary I shoot sass and also take the grips off my rugers and blow them out with compressed air. But watch out, there is a cross pin that you can blow out with the grips off. I did that 12 years ago in a big machine shop and never found it.:Sad
