A reduction in....
charge weight didn't work worth a hoot 'n hell! My standard load for my Shiloh 45 2 7/8 is a charge weight of 102 grs. of KIK 2F. Being in somewhat of an experimental mode....I reduced that to 98 grs. and went to the range yesterday afternoon. I had ten rounds loaded at 98 and ten rounds at 102 grs. I fired the 98 gr. load first....and I think it was an accident but I got ONE ROUND into the 20" plate shown shooting from 500 yards using a post front sight. Those ten rounds shot all over the friggin target....all with good calls. Wind was from 5-7 fish-tailing at about 6-8 mph. Was wiping two damp and one dry for all 20 rounds. I waited about ten minutes between strings and then fired the shots shown on this target. Not the best group I've ever fired but the elevation isn't too bad as the lowest shot at 6 o/clock I called; the two shots at 9 and 3 o/clock are when I wasn't firing in a boil; I saw the pickups on each of those four shots but I fired just to see where they would go. IMO...this is just further proof to me that most of these rifles that we shoot are very precision instruments, and accurate.... BUT....they are very particular about what they're fed! Smile
