Are scalpers at work??????
Stopped off at the gun shop when I was in town and they had primers.
$239. a brick.
H-380 powder in a I think it was a 8# jug $389.
Lots of loaded ammo on the shelfs for less then the powder and primers.
I wonder where this is leading?????

Scalpers maybe but more likely the simple but painful hit of inflation fuel prices at all time highs the price of raw materials thru the roof labor costs and all the rest

Dlr on the primers Fed 210M LRmatch is 60.98
the H380 8 # jug 214.98
Of course plus shipping to the dealer.
The gun shop surely was asking a "double premium" price for the powder and primers.
My local hardware store, likewise: 50 rd box of 9mm was 59.95 . Fleet now has it at around $25
Hardware store owner said, "I have to pay premium just to have "something" for my customers.

It’s not wrong for a store front shop to make a profit but market forces will determine how they will get return on investment

I'm glad that I just shoot my BPCR 50 rounds fired takes up a lot of the morning having a good time.
I think a lot of these big jugs of H-380 and .48-95 have been on the shelf long before the inflation started.

If they were on the shelf they were buried under some old clothes in the basement smokeless has been really hard to find anywhere

Don,
Around here at the range I shoot there are not many that reload anymore. Most shoot the .223 space guns and brass is so thick on the ground when the sun is out looks like the yellow brick road. Big Grin If I would take the time policing up the brass and take it to the scrap yard I could empty the shelves at that gun shop. Big Grin

Indeed, inflation is upon us big time in the area of primers and smokeless.
Those primers now at the wholesale $53-60 area were in the $25 area a couple years ago.
The H380 powder, now at wholesale $215/8 pounder was around $150 not long ago.
And, of course they are all "out of stock"-with extensive backorder time at my wholesaler

I just went to his web site and I think I remembered the prices wrong. Fed primers mixed up with the shotgun primers.
But if you need primers or powder he has it.

RE: Are scalpers at work??????
Its reflected the same down here also. Some people who've had a tin or two of smokeless they've never used ... or only half emptied... are selling on used gun sites for ridiculous prices. Primers scarce also . I recoiled at $215 aud for a brick of BR2's a week ago.. Seems I'd better go back with bowed head and buy them. Though I suspect they'd be gone by now. The dealer pretty much said ..'no more expected till end of the year or early next' ! No Federal LR match ...or mag LR match to be seen. I sure hope I've got enough primers in my bits and pieces in the States or i'll be yelling out " bang" each time my names called.
