With all the rain we've got I'ld probably be ahead to take the swather to the range ,rake and bale it, otherwise I think the bush hog would be a tired little puppy.
Sounds good, are you going to try paper patch or grease groove first in the 45-70?
My gongs are only out to 500 yards, a couple swathes with the 20' batwing and I'm GTG.

Wound up with 104 beautiful 500gr Government bullets to try in this 45-120, lubed, sized and ready to go, if this rifle shoots this bullet, it'll be one less I have to roll patches for, I believe it will be a heck of a killer at a throttled back 1488 fps, hoping it will survive the collision with heavy big game animals at that speed, near as I can tell, my alloy for the big grease grooves in 45 and 50 cal. is around 10 or 12 to 1, we shall see, particularly if I get that beast to Africa or on a stateside buffalo hunt.

RE: Shiloh #3 Sporter 45-120 SS
Was out a daybreak shooting dew North before the sun rose to screw my right eye and front sight, the big 120 with gov greasers was a shooting hammer with the barrel ladder and copper penny front sight, 1, 2, 3, and 4 hundred sights are filed, correlated and ready to go, the gong hits were loud and clear, and ALL less than moa at their ranges, I went up to put an eye on the 400 yard gong, bullet strikes are hard to see when the gongs are covered in heavy dew.
As I turned, I noticed the whole pasture valley was heavy with a giant black powder cloud, it must have been 1000 yards wide and slowly drifting East, what a cool sight to see, there was next to no wind this morning, it was a hell of a fun morning, wiped the rifle down, then casted up 115 paper patch bullets for my 45-110.
I really don't get why the 120 isn't popular and has so many detractors, oh well, i'll shoot and enjoy the hell out of mine.
