Deer Season
This is my first post on this site just joined up a week ago. This was my first year hunting with a Shiloh Sharps chambered in the 45-110. It has taken me a couple of years to get it to shoot. Work and all the daily chores seem to always get in the way of shooting. Thanks to Don McDowell and some others I got her shooting pretty well. Thanks Guys! I filled several doe tags and my A tag with a nice 4 point whitetail. I have been hunting for a lot of years with modern-day rifles, but I think I had more fun this year than I did my first year hunting. This BPCR sure puts the hunt back in hunting. Still trying to fill my elk tag not much luck yet. We need to get some weather and maybe they will start moving around. Only a week left of the season and no weather in sight (bummer). Anyway here's a few pictures. Have a good hunt!

RE: Deer Season
Well hunting season is just around the corner. I can't hardly wait to get out there again and chase them critters. I have been shooting my old load a little every chance I get. The oil boom over east is keeping me pretty busy. I can get off 20 rounds with out blowing or wiping and accuracy stays pretty good (under 3 inches at 100 yds). Hope I don't need that many fallow up shots. LOL. It's going to be extreme highs and low humidity for the next week. I want to get out and shoot a few rounds and see how it holds up in the extreme low humidities. I am planning on filling all my tags with my Sharps this year unless I get lucky and get my elk with my stick and string. I didn't get any special drawing tags this year so it is all general hunt for me. I wish you all a great hunting season. I can't wait to get started!

Good luck Trapper. Nice looking deer you killed last year, I bet they tasted fabulous. I will be heading to the hills in less than a month with my longbow for elk. The last weekend of bow hunting antelope rifle opens up and the Big 50 will be talking. Good luck on your hunts this year. God willing, you will have a freezer full of fresh meat.

RE: Deer Season
Nice hunting last year Trapper! Good luck this year. Do you mind sharing and load details for your 45-110? Ive got one with the standard chamber and havent tried PP yet with it.

Good luck Stephen on your longbow elk hunt and 50 2 1/2 antelope hunt.
Im hoping to stick a deer with a bow in December. Ill try for bear again with the 45-110 or maybe the 44-77. Have a spike only muzz tag for elk.

Mike,
Here is my load data (Thanks to Don McDowell): 45 Norma brass fire formed trimmed to 2.881, CCI br2 primmer, 100gr Goex FFg drop tubed and compressed .380, .030 poly wad, 2- 1/8" felt wads lubed with SPG, .030 veggie wad, 565gr boolit dropped at .442 with pure lead, wrapped with 9# 100% cotton paper to .449 - .4495, finger seated .400 in the case with a slight taper crimp to hold bullet in place, and some Jojoba oil wiped on the exposed patch. O.A.L. is about 4.00". Works really well in my rifle.

Thanks for all the support everyone.
Be safe and good luck on your hunts.
