Original IDEAL 457132 Postell Bullet Mould
When we started BPCR, we started with the "LYMAN" 457125 & 457132 way back last century and have evolved to other things. Either bullet remains quite satisfactory for Trapdoors and satisfactory for midrange and silhouette, not so long range depending on the targets preference.

It is critically important to make a distinction between the IDEAL 457132 and the LYMAN 457132, they are not the same. Not even close.

Additionally, I have seen and held in my hand "IDEAL" moulds marked 456132 and another 457132.

The original IDEAL mould had a beveled base, and, I was told by an old time BPCR shooter, that the IDEAL mould had a base band of less diameter than the driving band. (I don't know, only measurement of an original could tell.)

When the IDEAL mould was being marketed this was also at a time when tools that filled the lube grooves and tools that sized the bullet at the same time it filled the lube grooves were being promoted. Maybe the beveled base was addeded to reduce finning along with the reduced base band, maybe to encourage shooters to "try" a lubesizer. Who knows ? I surely don't.

Is there anyone reading this that has or knows of someone that has an original IDEAL Postel mould suitable for use as a pattern to reproduce for today's market ?
