1877 Shiloh English rifle trigger
On the new Shiloh English rifles, the single trigger, will it be a single set trigger or something different ? It does not say on the web page.

I think the catalog has more information on options as well as standard configurations. I believe a single plain trigger is standard, there is no Shiloh single set trigger. A double set trigger is optional.

RE: 1877 Shiloh English rifle trigger
International competition rules at the time required military style single trigger, as well as a rifle weight limitation. The 1877 model allowed the use of a heavier barrel with its reduced weight action. The single trigger on the Shiloh 1877 models is set at 3#, as I was informed by Shiloh Rifle Mfg.

RE: 1877 Shiloh English rifle trigger
I have two Shiloh's that came with single triggers. One is the #2 Creedmoor that broke at 3# I had it changed to a double set and that was a mistake. The rifle has not shot as well after the change.
My hunting Hartford has a single trigger that breaks very clean and crisp at 3# or slightly under depending where the scale is on the trigger shoe and it shoots very good.

Very good news to me,I had never heard good or bad about the Shiloh single triggers.I had only assumed they would be at least decent, encouraging for sure that the accomplished shooters hold them in high regard.Thank you gentlemen.

RE: 1877 Shiloh English rifle trigger
Randy not many want a the heavier pull of a single trigger I guess but I have no problem with them.
When I got this #2 silhouette I thought a double set might be better for the matches so I had Kirk inlay a double set into the trigger bar. This was his first he done and he did a super job doing it but for some unexplained reason the accuracy dropped off after this was done. Many times I thought I would put this rifle up for sale but I would not want it on my conscience to sell something that wont shoot to my expectations to someone else. This year when I get to the Quigley I will take the rifle back to the shop and have then fit a single trigger bar back in this rifle.
The #2 has a shorter reach from the grip to the trigger that fits my short fingered hand better then the #1's have.

RE: 1877 Shiloh English rifle trigger
I am going to leave it as it was originally designed,If it is reasonably close to 3# and breaks clean I can ask for no more.I have far more single triggers than any other trigger I am comfortable with them, albeit many have been changed from factory.

RE: 1877 Shiloh English rifle trigger
My son has a single trigger on his Creedmoor Target rifle and its right on 3 lbs. On this model with the more pronounced pistol grip and slight rear set position of the single trigger ( when compared to the set trigger model ) it allowed my 11yr old son to get a firm hold and still reach the trigger comfortably. He's now 17+ and still prefers it over his fathers set trigger guns. It actually shows up a few bad habits of mine when I use it...and keeps me dialled in when I go back to the set trigger models. It's certainly no handicap if the trigger is performing well at 3 lbs or just under. The trigger is flared a little also compared to the set trigger arrangement and this allows more of your finger to be in contact. Not quite a trigger shoe of course...but you get the idea.
