CPA word to the wise.

RE: CPA word to the wise.
That's a bummer Don. I have two of those CPA's and the second one likes to loosen screws. The hammer screw and the barrel screw come loose. I wouldn't take that one to a match. Kurt that's a good tip on barrel tightening. I will try that next time.

One thing I had to do with both CPA's was to re-inlet the wood around the mainspring as it strikes the wood and takes energy out of the spring before the hammer hits. Mine are really accurate guns, but incredibly finicky. My C. Sharps and Shiloh rifles are a lot less trouble.

Those CPA's do have their little snit fits from time to time..

Jim.
I had a bunch of rollers in my past and they shot well. They where all the Military and a couple .40 sporters. The only problem I had was the drop in the stock. I have a good friend I call my little brother that shoots the rollers and they are top quality wood and accuracy but I give him a hard time LOL.

I must say that I prefer the Sharps rifles. All of my Shiloh's shoot well and feel good shouldered and the only problem I have had with them is broken firing pins, lever springs and a broken trigger spring. I shoot a lot so this can be expected.

My 3 CPA rifles I don't find them being finicky at all. I do have one that had fore end screws that worked loose but new screws fixed this problem. I had accuracy problems with one rifle but it had a barrel I supplied that was junk and that was changed and trashed.
My .45-90 CPA with the Douglas barrel and my chamber is the closest what I can call a MOA shooter I have.
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

RE: CPA word to the wise.
If I had it to do all over again I'd probably just shoot Shiloh's.

I think that my CPA's are my most accurate black powder cartridge rifles, but then they are also chambered for puny "parlor gun" cartridges like the .38-55 and .32-40 ;-). The thing I like about them most is the triggers.

They are both schuetzen rifles, but I got the second one with a single prong Schoyen buttstock. Believe it or not, it shoots very nicely from prone with the .22 barrel. I thought the prong would get in the way but it does not.
