RE: Bullet BC for 45 cal.
eric,
what don says is very relevant.
at 1000 yards, atmospheric conditions, air pressure, wind direction, light etc., can make a difference of 5 moa elevation on the same range over a period of 1 year.
I have read that on the creedmoor range greater differences were recorded.
sir henry halford commented on what happened when the barometer dropped during a shoot.
the odg carried a barometer to the range when shooting long range, and would refer to their notes in regard to its reading.
keeping a sight setting book which includes condition over a period of time can be enlightening.
all this demonstrates yet another area where b.p. shooting is harder than smokeless, and lacks instant gratification.
that said, the number 0.510 given by chris has shown to be a pretty close number for that bullet.
a bit less for a greaser.
if you go to jbm it will give you pretty close comeups, and also wind deflection predictions.
they have one application that can print out small range cards to aid in windage predictions.
just do it for 10 mph windspeed. double the speed - double the deflection etc.
if you do it for wind at 3.00, wind at 1.00 will be 1/2 and wind at 2.00 will be about 3/4 what the chart says, easy to remember.
good to see you embracing long range. the world needs more of us.
keep safe,
bruce.
