RE: The wait begins
Exactly! Thats why I vow never to buy another BPSS rifle or a mold. Wait, I'm late for a Chronic Liar's Anon Meeting.

Hey Ranch, When that 460 grain Postell comes to you, can I ask for a sampling of perhaps 10 bullets. If my .44/77s both like that slug I'll almost have to get a mold for it too. After all, my guns need all of the help they can get..! Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: The wait begins
Sometimes we just cannot help ourselves when it comes to experimenting new molds. I was checking out things on web and came across a "SALE". Optics Planet was offering new Lyman 457658 mold delivered for $60 bucks. A bunch were cast yielding at 494 gr. with mix in pot. After cleaning in solvent and prep this mold started dropping good casts and ran out the 20# pot (see pic). Today during a range session with chronograph I added a few of the 457658s thru my '74. Now one caveat is this load I admit is wrong in many ways in traditional thinking I apologize in advance I.E. my load is smokeless.
That said the three rounds in hand today velocity test read 1) 1380 fps, 2) 1383 fps & 3) 1383 fps. Since these rounds were fetched from a box of 100 that are ready for Opening Silhouette match here in April the rest are un-molested waiting there turn at steel critters. Could hardly get more bang for my bucks.

I really don't think that any of us are immune to "good deal on a mold" disease, my self included. I have reciently picked up 4 molds. One off of ebay and 3 from a private seller. The are either Lyman or Ideal molds, one is for a gas check 30 cal spitzer bullet listed at 168, a 3118 for the 32-20, a 311410 for the 30 carbine and the 38-55 standard bullet. The one off of ebay was about $55, the others were $30 each and just too good of a deal to pass up. All of them in new or near new condition, the 38-55 bullet was still in the wrap in the plastic box.

I have used that bullet in the past with smokeless powder and it shot very well out to 300 yards. I have not tested it at ranges longer. Be interesting to see how you fare on the rams. I use A 5744 and it does work well. (Also the Lyman 458125 RN works well with smokeless).
