Calling C Sharps 75 owners
So I am planning my Active Duty retirment rifle and am looking hard at the 75 as I can get the extras that I want with out breaking the bank.

First question I have is about the set trigger is the extra $ worth it? I have read that many folks say the regular trigger is fairly good.

Second the target and sporting version lists less cartridge options than the other versions. Will they chamber in what ever you want that they list for other models or are they pretty firm and their options?

And lastly It comes with a heavy round barrel, is the octagonal the same weight?

Thanks

The heavy round barrel makes for a bit heavier rifle.
If you want an octagon barrel you can configure a rifle with the pistol grip and stock.
The less cartridge choices is due to the round barrel doesn't share all the caliber options of the octagon barrels.
Yes I think the set trigger on the 75 is worthwhile, you might not need/ use it, but if you decide you want it it's there.
Have it drilled and tapped for a scope while it's in the process, you don't have to mount a scope, but if the holes are there it will save some headache should a scope be something you want to try.

Heavier is better in the recoil department so will stick with the round.
Good tip in the D&t for scope will put it on the list.
ok stick with the set trigger then.
Anything else?

Well think about this for a minute, an octagon barrel will lay down and go to sleep in the crossticks, and stay there much better than a round barrel. But I don't know if they can put a heavy octagon on the 75.

J., Parts of the C. Sharps Arms catalog might be slightly out of date. For instance, I'm not sure if those round barrels for the '75 are still from Badger? Other things, such as the chambering line-up, might have changed too. C. Sharps Arms will certainly try to build the rifle you want so your best bet on getting good up to date answers is to ask them.
Also, a friend of mine has a .45/70 on the '75 with a round 28" barrel (the '75 Business Rifle) and he maintains that is the most accurate rifle he owns. His targets shot with that gun back up his statements very well. Shoot sharp, Mike

Mike I will give them a ring and see what they have to saw. I was going off the web sight but who knows how often the update the rifle section.

Don I would much prefer the Oct Brl for one it looks cooler and for two how they ride sticks.

Of course this could all be for naught as SWMBO upped my spending limit lol I wish she would make up her mind haha. But hey I could spend that on more custom features

Mike, Maybe I'm overestimating the need/preference for Badger. Is your friend using one? I'll be calling them tomorrow to see if their site is up to date.

RE: Calling C Sharps 75 owners
Doug, The C. Sharps Arms web site is up to date with everything except the mentioning of Badger barrels. Now, they might still have Badger barrels but I suspect that was simply something not re-written when the catalog was updated. My best recommendation is to call them and ask. Also, look at the C. Sharps Arms web site in the In Stock Rifles Gallery because they have several '75s ready and waiting. One of them might be just what you have in mind. Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: Calling C Sharps 75 owners
Mike, Heard back. They have some Badgers left over but only said they're limited to certain calibers. Kinda vague. The only model showing them is the target/sporting model 75, w/ a heavy half-round, and as Don indicated, the calibers for this are more limited. Also shows a "tapered octagon" option, but doesn't indicate heavy, or whether that's (possibly) also Badger. Waiting to hear back w/ clarification.

RE: Calling C Sharps 75 owners
Doug, I also emailed John at C. Sharps Arms and he replied with "STILL HAVE A COUPLE OF BADGERS IN 30" HEAVY ROUND IN 38, 40, & 50 CAL.FOR 74 BUSINESS OR 75 TARGET RIFLES . WILL NOT SELL JUST THE BARRELS." That doesn't help you if you want a .45/90 but it should certainly interest some .40/70 shooters. And that barrel you mentioned is a full round, not a half-round, just to keep you straight. Shoot sharp, Mike
