Silhouette targets are shot as follows. off hand chickens, 50 meters, any position pigs, 100 meters, any position turkeys, 150 meters, any position rams, 200 meters. Most folks shoot the any position targets prone with cross sticks. We shoot unlimited sighters on swingers and then go for score, 10 shots for record in an 8 minute time period.

Our target rifle match is shot any position at 100, 150, and 200 meters. We shoot unlimited sighters on small gongs and then go for score, 10 shots on paper in an 8 minute time period.

We look forward to seeing you at our matches.

This Saturday's (May 21) 22 Silhouette match is cancelled. We have standing water on the Turkey line with no good alternative target location. I'll have the range set up for some informal practice if anyone comes out.

Going to have to stock that turkey line with catfish one of these days.

I tried to get geese to set still on the water but they kept moving around. It was about as bad as shooting chickens.

The solution appears to be to build up the turkey target berm so that even when we have water, the range can still be used. I just need enough dry weather to move a lot of sand with our little tractor. Providing a drain path for the pond would require a lot more earth moving due to the lay of the land.

The way that sits down in the bottom providing drainage would be a multi million dollar project. You'll have plenty of hot dry weather in August to move that berm Smile

We had a water runoff problem on one of out ranges making it unusable for some time. I took my backhoe over and laid some drain tiles close to the surface like a septic drain field and this took care of the standing water. It would be better if one could trench in a tile till you get to a lower area so it runs off on low ground.

I might be in the local by match time to make your match Brian

The lake was gone last week but two thunderstorms refilled it Sunday and Monday. The June 25th match is cancelled. With a little luck, the water will go away and I'll be able to get the kubota in there in the next couple of weeks.

The water table in those sand dunes is rising I think. We just have to work around it.
