Ladder sights
Undecided Kurts target got me to thinking about how well a fella can shoot with the barrel sights on occasion.
So that lead to this big brain storm Dodgy With the Medicine Rocks shoot about the last one of the year, who else would be interested in shooting the buffalo match with just the barrel sights? We could do like a 5$ jackpot with winner take all or split it 60-40 1st and second...

RE: Ladder sights
If I had a gun other than a .45 carbine with ladder sights, I would be game to play but will have to pass for now.

Don,

I think it would make it a fun shoot. A little tough keeping up with the wind, but fun.
I used the .44-90 round barreled rough rider and started at the bucket and shot every one of the targets out to the buffalo at the Q and put a scratch with my knife on the ladder after I found the target and there was no problem hitting them.
You braught this up once at Alliance but it didn't go to far. Wink

Kurt I shot Alliance several times with just the ladder and a couple of times the Quigley.I've also shot Baker with just the blade front and a vernier. It puts a different twist on the gong games and is actually quite a bit of fun...
The Medicine Rocks is a fun shoot now matter how you do it, the targets aren't big but they aren't small either, they're all animal shapes, so it might just be the best place to run a hunters rifle and sight.

RE: Ladder sights
I played with the barrel sight at the 1000 and it seemed to work just fine , the setting for the 28 inch business rifle was 5&3/4 on the staff , so there was still a lot left , I think a match like that would be a lot of fun, especially with a little wind.

I think that Promentory is the 23rd. Now what's this about a Creedmoor at Missoula?
