I don't think Kirk and Co build 'sloppy' chambers but at any rate I was getting shaved paper left in the chamber and leading in the bore prior to the 7* leade being cut. I tried using RMC thick-wall brass to alleviate that problem, changed alloy several times and various powders. The barrel originally was a medium weight and I don't like that weight; wanted a bull up front so when Dean told me he had the present barrel available I bought it and had Dean ship barrel to Kirk. I sent the Sporter #1 to Kirk and he was pronto in getting the finished rifle back to me. As for the 'average shooter'.....I don't think it's possible to wear one of these rifles out! Rdnck told me once he had over 20,000 rounds through one of his rifles and it still shot great!
