RE: old roller for the 2014/2015 season
I will use a Shiloh Business Rifle in 45-70. Load will be a 480 grain round nosed paper patched bullet at 30-1 over 70 grains of KIK 2f powder. This cartridge and load will shoot all the way through a buffalo from end to end and does not kick you silly. My 45-110 gets very little use nowadays.

The 45-70 or the 44-77 are just about the perfect hunting round delivering outstanding accuracy coupled with moderate recoil and really good killing power. Shoot straight, rdnck.

Smile Don and I agree and disagree on a few things, but when it comes to the .44's there are no disagreements.!! Smile
I just came home from the range and shooting my 35" barreled .44-100 Rem ST. 25# Tolofson rifle. The morning was perfect slight switching winds behind my neck and face 49 degrees. It just don't get any better.
For hunting I grab the .44-77 or the .44-90bn. The 90 I think is a little over powered for Bison, but it sure does a number on them.

Don,
That wagon axel always shoot good. Except at Baker last year at the 1000. I didn't find it till the last shot.
The blue tape is what I shot using the trapdoor carbine with some PP bullets and the white tape I used some 500 gr Gov. RN bullets.
I'm thinking about screwing that barrel off the Sharps action and having CPA fit it to their action and put the original .44-90bn barrel back on the Sharps. I miss that round barreled Sharps. Really made a mistake changing it.

Now that might really be a good plan. That round barreled 44-90 was a dream to shoot.

That's the one you shot at Alliance and plastered that 1K with it.
