RE: Model P Colt
Don, That 12 grains of Blue Dot in the .44/40 sounds good. Having a slightly slower burning powder has certain appeal, especially in a rifle. Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: Model P Colt
It will give you about 200 fps more out of the rifle than the pistol.
That load works well in the 38wcf and the 45 colt.

Okay, first report of shooting with the 8 grains of Unique in the .44/40. I'm going to stay with this thread even though my shooting today was with the .44/40 rifle. Excellent shooting! A rather good group at 50 yards, holding 6 o'clock on the bullseye so a dead-on hold at 100 yards is still in the picture. After shooting for group I turned attention to some silhouettes at 60 and 80 yards, good doin's there too, both from the bench and offhand. Just plain good shooting fun. However, I did learn from my group on paper that I need to move my rifle's front sight a hair to the left, to move the bullets' impact to the right. A couple of those silhouettes were hit on their tails! Shooting with the Colt SAA will be next. Shoot sharp, Mike

RE: Model P Colt
Hey Lumpy, Don't thank me. We might say you started it... (G) Besides, now I'll be getting a free powder charge for every ninth shot and I can't complain about that. However, this does put me further away from trying the .44/40 with Blue Dot just because I have a lot Unique and it is working pretty well. But I won't be swapping my Blue Dot off, it will get used fairly soon. Good doin's and I thank you! Now I must move that front sight before I forget to... Shoot sharp, Mike

Hey Lumpy, I'll do it. But the brass I fired yesterday is already reloaded so we'll have to wait a cycle for it to happen. Shoot sharp, Mike
