I am leading the "Big Louie" contest, lol
here in West Tennessee we have what we call the "Big Louie" contest, its a contest for yellow catfish, whoever catches the largest yellow cat during the month of June by any means possible, I always fish with a rod and reel just for the action, anyways I moved into the leader position today with a "22 pounder", even though this is the leader it will not hold up, it usually takes one over 35#, the winner of the contest will receive a "hot can of stale beer"

we have caught probably 2000# of channel cats and yellow cats during the month of May and June, have had only 2 feeding, about 35 people at the first one and about 25 people at the second one, everyone has plenty of fish in the freezer

Pretty looking river you're on. Using live brim for bait?
its the Hatchie River located in West Tennessee, one of the few rivers in the USA that has not been touched by the Corps of Engineers, is on the Scenic River Act
yes, bream/pond perch is our main bait, size is what we call the 3 fingered ones. I did fish for a couple of days with the 10-16 ounce bream, got a few bites but could never get the fish to the surface

like any river the depth of the water varies, we have our favorite deep holes that at summer time pool are close to 20 feet deep, sometimes we have to wade the shallow spots to motor on to the deep holes, if you do not watch the water and drink beer you would probably be breaking some law of nature
