Kenny I think you're right on that harder alloy, to much slump with the dead soft lead to get much of anything past minute of deer. That's alright for a hunting load as we all know, but don't do much for keeping them in the 10 ring.
The little bit of shooting I did do with the #3 and 20-1, 1.1 inch patched bullets showed that with target sights holding scores in the 80's and above would not be a problem if the shooter was up to it, but that was a short test at 100 yds with the barrel sights.
Looking forward to some decent weather to shoot in. Temp was 37 at 6 this morning, but somebody needs to tell Ma nature the wind speed doesn't need to meet or beat the temp.....Undecided
