Slightly off black powder, 22 hornet brass

I have shot both .223 and .224 bullets in my Ruger and the .223 shoot fine, but it is a .224 barrel and that is what I have used mostly.

It seems almost any bullet between 35 grains and 50 grains will shoot well with very little load development in my Ruger the way it is now. The weakest part of the Hornet is the case and they are very pressure sensitive, as long as maximum loads are worked up to carefully it's not a problem. That's one of the reasons LIL'GUN is such a great powder in the Hornet, I don't think you can load enough to get in trouble with pressure. The cases are very thin and care must be used in loading or you can easily crush a case.

The Lee collet neck sizing die works very well and was one of the things that helped improve the accuracy of my rifle. I did have to polish the mandril to get the necks to size to what worked best for my rifle.

It's been a few years since I did any shooting with my Ruger. I was going to get everything out today and see just what I have bullet wise but I just didn't have time. I'm working too much and shooting too little and I don't see that changing until after June this year.
