Randy I have a Axtell rifle and when the box was opened I told my Friend I will take it.
The 77 Axtell just has a different feel when you shoulder it. They just don't have the bulky feel like the 74's
I even have a heal sight for it and mine is a .45-2.6.
I like your wood pick. Good straight grain in the wrist where it need the strength.
Don't forget to post some pictures when it's in your hands.
