RE: What's the best nose shape for long range shooting?
I have used the 7.2 spacing on all my rifles. I will use that spacing on my .44-77 and I hope with the 30" barrel and mounts that are high enough I can use my 17" Leatherwood for Creedmoor.
I tried it once on my CSA .45-70 with a 34"barrel. Not so good! Fine at 800. At 900 I had to remove the front sight. At 1000 yards the muzzle obscured the target and I had to sight on the number board. The results were less than desired. The scope in my DZ mounts would work fine, the 34" barrel was the problem.
