Randy, I don't have a ladder sight, but rather a full buckhorn sight. For me the widening of the rear sight really improved the visibility of the front sight in the rear sight and reduced windage errors for lack of good visibility. I used an old distributor point file w/ a neutral edge. This widened the slot w/o making the slot deeper that can introduce a vertical problem. Hope this helps.
