40-65

Finally got the time to go out today with a friend and shoot his 40-65 Shiloh he bought used last year. He had a PP bullet mold made from Brooks based off a bullet mold that I had made from and original 40/50 BN. The only problem was that he didn't get it built as an adjustable mold. Needless to say he has a beautiful 265 grain bullet mold . We didn't know how this gun would shoot with that lite of bullet but it actually shot fairly well. The wind was humping pretty good from 15-30 mph so we kept our shots under a 150 yards. We shot at a rock about the size of a watermelon at a 150 yards and smacked it repeatedly. I had a 6" steel plate at 50 yards that died multiple times.

It was fairly cool in the 50s this morning, we could shoot 6 shots without any issues but after that it would get snug enough that you didn't want to force the round in and tear the paper.

I will be fun to head out again and do some more shooting with this fine rifle.

We also shot the 50 2 1/2 and 50/70. Got to get my oldest son well prepared for hunting this fall.
