44-77 PP Loads

Yea, These PP loads are fun to make and shoot. It just felt right to shoot these in the rifle. I measured the rifling twist on this Remington and it came out to 24-1.

Jimmill, sometimes I wonder around in these forums and find a topic I've missed out on. Using the thinner necked captech brass a .434 wrapped with 9lb is about right in my rifle. With a .432 bullet you could use thicker paper or even go to captech .43 spanish brass which is a little thicker. I'm shooting basically what you are except the bullet is a 470 gr out of a KAL mold. Recoil is a mite stout off the bench for a skinny feller like me and that Remington buttplate. Since that mold is adjustable the next batch out will be around 400 gr.

You want to try a few of the 434 let me know. Like said...out of a KAL adjustable. The are tapered design and 30:1.

Caprock, Nice looking Remington you have there. I haven't shot mine in a few months, getting ready to start again now that hunting season is over. I have Win 348 and some RMC brass. I may get some of the Captech brass, does it headspace ok in your Remington? I have been full length sizing for my gg loads but may change to neck sizing for pp. Thanks for the offer for some .434 bullets, I may take you up on that when I use up my .432 bullets.

Yes, it headspaces fine but you should check to make sure. Another thought: the .348 and the .43 spanish have about the same neck thickness. Should you start using the Captech with thinner neck you'll need to either adjust bullet diam or paper thickness to get the slip fit you want. Either that or size the neck down which I try to avoid. Besides these are PP chambers to start with. If yours is like mine the groove runs large....around .451 best I can tell. But with the softer bullets they get bumped right up anyway so don't worry about that.

Actually, I bought the captech brass because I couldn't chamber using the .348 stuff along with the RCBS greaser....needed thinner necks. After ditching the greaser concept for the roller and about everything else, I find I can make about any brass work by just doing the math with chamber diam, paper thickness, bullet diam, and neck thickness. In other words, you may find that the .348 works just dandy with that .432 bullet.
