Spotting scopes.

I took the M-2 to the range yesterday as well as the 821 Kowa. I had the range to myself so I shot a few holes in the black at 200 yards and set up both scopes. The sun was out but not on the target face yet. Shooting north.
The pistol range was open behind me so I took both scopes and set them up on the down range side of it this gives me 300 yards looking over the road and the 200 yard line. By the time I got the scopes set up the sun got on the target face. I really wanted to look with the shadow over the target but this gave me a comparison anyway. I could see the .45-70 holes with the 100mm Celsetron M-2 in the black but not using the Kowa 821-M. I could make out a hole in the white but not in the black with the Kowa.
The ED glass this Regale M-2 has sure is bright and sharp. I looked past the backstop into the trees, maybe 400 or so in the shadows and looked at the bark on a Elm tree and it was very sharp in detail. I think for a bird watcher or wild life this would make a great scope, but it's very large and at 10# or so not many would like walking through the bush carrying it. It did come with a canvas cover and a shoulder strap.
I will see if I can find a 100mm clear UV or orange filter lens to keep the dust and lube off the objective lens when I get the thread diameter from Celsetron.
The scope is a keeper.
