Hi folks, spent 4 days at the ranch planting food plots working on blinds and fences---worked cows some----the mornings and evenings were spent watching critters and eliminating a few hogs.
This old boar hog was spotted at about 400 yards, did a slow stalk to 100 yards and eliminated him with a 450 grain Paper Patched--flat nose--hollow pointed slug, 40/1 on top of 80 grains of 1 1/2--45/70--put his head in the center of the aperature and hit him just in front of the ear DRT not even a twitch----the bullet is buried in a mesquite thicket. What a fun way to kick off the hunting season.
We have a bunch of quail this year, looking forward to collecting a few with my old Smith
The deer are in great shape this year lots of pretty 10's showing up, rut will start in the next month-----this load should work well on them a when november gets here.
Keep well and stay safe
Dave
