Don. When I do my ladder load work I use a full sized 42" SR target. I start at center target shoot the group. Make notes what that load is then I raise the elevation 5 MOA and shoot the second different load group. then down 5 MOA and so on around the target. This keeps all loads on one target for easy evaluation.
Yes the screws working loose does make a difference. Especially the tang screws on actions like the Stevens where the screws are just in the wood with out a through bolt or screws going through the wood holding both upper and lower tangs.
Fore arm wood is not making contact with the action.
There is just to much of a change in this shooting in the same light and weather conditions that I have shot in this week. Same winds/none. temp and humidity.
