Jim, To answer your first question I need to be buttoned down solid on the stock; buttplate tight on shoulder, face solid on cheekpiece, solid hold on pistol grip. If I don't have all these working for me, I shoot patterns instead of groups. I need the same solid connections for shooting decently w/ shotguns, too; swing the shotgun from the waist.

I don't know about your 2nd question, but there very well may be some.
