You might also try your .375 H&H bullets w/ a flat meplat on the nose. Clarence on the Shiloh forum made a jig that allowed him to make flat nose bullets by cutting the nose off a little on a table saw. He used these bullets on an Africa hunt, and if memory serves he did quite well w/ them. That should be easy enough to try on your .375 H&H bullets on hand. A meplat of 0.25"-0.30" diam. should make some serious improvements w/o a major weight loss; it should still have plenty of momentum w/ your smokeless loads.
I use flat nose cast bullets almost exclusively in hunting, and DRT or close to it happens fairly often depending on the hit, of course. If they aren't DRT w/ a solid hit the blood trail typically looks like it was applied w/ a paint sprayer from both sides of the animal.
