RE: New Alloy
Now Gussy you know that it's hard to find WW tnx to the west coast greenies My son-in-law is a service manager in a car repair shot and he brought me two new unopened boxes of the old WW last year and said we are not allowed to use these anymore.
by the way I think I said "big plus to reduce smears" You cant get smears if dry lead don't make contact with the bore.

Michael I don't remember what is in shot. It used to list what the antimony % on the shot bag I think it's something from 2 to 4% plus arsenic. Now it's Bismuth or some lead free alloy.
But yes you could use it for hardening the lead and tin. Antimony is a crystalline and you can harden a bullet with just a slight % and I use it.

Thanks Kurt and Don. I may experiment with that when I return, I have several bags of chilled shot.
Also going to try loading charges by volume rather than weight in the 45-70 to see if there is a difference on the target. Wish our range extended beyond 200 yards. Always looking to simplify reloading.

Mike I fell into a bunch of bags of Western chilled shot, been using it all last year. Added about 1/2 lb of tin to a 25 lb bag of shot. That's the alloy that I shot at Alliance for the Scoggins match, when that 40-90 was making such a mess out of the bull on that circle target you spotted for me.
