old roller for the 2014/2015 season

Playing with some bullets and powder charges for my Remington NYSM improved in .45 2.1 (actually a 45 2.2 got to love pre SAMI specs). I have had this old girl for years time to put her to use. What are the rest of you planning on using?

You do seem to have an addiction to the 44's

Probably use the same Shiloh hvy octagon .45/110 w/ barrel sights and Brooks 550 gr. pp bullet; old habits are hard to break.

RE: old roller for the 2014/2015 season
JR, That's a good question, and it's not the first time a fellow shooter asked it either. It is a very good do-all cartridge, and it performs well in the wind we have here in the northern plains.
In all fairness I'm working on a good hunting style pp bullet for my Shiloh .45/70 that weighs around 500-510 gr. or so. I have what seems to be good target bullet of about 540 gr., but I need a bullet w/ a better nose style for effective wound channels. Many of these big cast bullets seem to go through bones like a candy bar, but good wound channels in soft tissues are also very good especially if the impact spot wasn't quite dead-centered.
Regards
IR

That makes sence. I have heard several people say it is perfect for elk. I imagine the flatter trajectory over the 2.1 or 2.4 case helps with errors in ranging.
