Rifle rest and my rimfire - Plastikosmd - 09-28-2013 Not sure if I ever showed my rest or my 22. The rifle is my 40x 22, aperture sight with front tube, fancy adjustable thing, can't remember the name. The rest is a viper, custom built. Bob pastor is the maker. Mine is stainless and steel w/ black powder coat. Weight is about 50lbs. It has 3 tops, a flat top for my big bench guns, a standard top as shown and a extra large top fit to my McMillan stocked bmg. The rest is awesome, that is all I can say. Pic without rifle and side tension knobs ![]() Rifle now, with eley it will shoot under 1" at 100 yards, unscoped. I think my best is around 0.75" ![]() ![]() Also be sure to look in your brass bucket before u reach in
RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Plastikosmd - 09-28-2013 Here is flat top for the big guns ![]() U can go to his built page here. http://www.viperbench-rest.com/customizing.htm Mine is about 1/2 way down. He said he won't do stainless again as it was too hard to work with RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Don McDowell - 09-28-2013 Is that a 700 Remington action the rifle is built on? RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Plastikosmd - 09-28-2013 Rifle is just a standard rem 40x 22. Lugs are in the rear in the 40x 22lr. Frankly your question shows me how little I know about the 40x 22. I have 3 40x rifles, the centerfire ones would mirror a typical 700 action I would guess RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Don McDowell - 09-28-2013 Thanks for the enlightenment. I was not aware of the 40x ever being available in a rimfire . I have seen them in centerfires, but never a rimfire. Please do tell us more about how the rifle shoots, favored ammo etc. RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Creeker - 09-29-2013 I didn't know the lugs were in the rear on the 40X rimfire. RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Plastikosmd - 09-29-2013 Will grab a pic of the bolt next week for you. Best ammo for this gun is eley , can't rem box color, green label I think. Under 1" at 100, 10 shot is typical. I have shot around 3/4" 5 shot RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Kenny Wasserburger - 10-01-2013 I used to have a nice 22 40X wish I had never sold it was a great rifle. Kenny W RE: Rifle rest and my rimfire - Ward Olson - 10-01-2013 Remington also made sporter versions of the 40X 22 caliber. Back in the 70's they offered clip feed repeaters - I believe that they only made around 700 or so of these deluxe sporter rimfire rifles. They were very similar in appearance to the "C" grade of M700. More recently their custom shop again offered 40X sporters but these were only single shots. All were rather pricey! They are very accurate shooters - all! ward |
