What I applied for in 2013 - Stephen Borud - 05-17-2013
I applied for a bull and cow elk tag, three antelope tags and a deer tag this year! We shall see what I get.

I sent in for sheep and moose, and the bison, got my refund check on the first two and donated the 11$ on the bison, I don't believe they'll kill 3284 of em.
Sent in for my landowner antelope license, and all the deer and elk hunting I might do will be on a general license.

I think that hunting/shooting a wild buff with a sharps rifle would have to be the ultimate experience in the open country.
And I know that many hunters get their buff from ranches that are scatter'd about the west, and it could be that those critters are just as wild as one can get.
I guess I'm not against shootin' one that way either
!

Jim shooting one of those wild ones, that spend their life out running grizz and wolves, is about the only way I really want to shoot one. When you see them big Shaggy's up in Davey Jacksons hole and further on up the Gros Ventre or over in the sunshine or on the North Fork, ya just think now that's the way it ought to be...

don & jim,
there's hunting and there's shooting.
some of these farm based so called hunts are mainly pretend compared to wild animals roaming free.
finding and taking a wild one cleanly is a thing to be proud of.
unlike a youtube video doing the rounds which focuses on a wounded bison trying to stay on its feet for what seems a long time, on a farm.
the ones in the wild swing things much more in favour of the animal, and you have to work harder.

Most of the bison ranches out west here are pretty fair sized outfits. A hunt on one of those is not quite like a 1/4 section game farm, but it's not looking for just the right bull on 2 million acres of wilderness either.

Congratulations!
My luck for my state (Washington) was bad. I put in for quality elk, quality deer, cow elk, moose, sheep, cow moose, ewe, mountain goat, and second deer (archery). All i got was the archery doe tag.
Hoping to get a bear with the PP 44 2 1/4sbn this year.

Good points have been made in favor of the "wild bison" hunt, and I agree 100% about the satisfaction of such a hunt.
