Looks to be a PP mould.

420 gr Sharps paper patch mold for 45 caliber the original pp load for the 45 -70. The nipper edges have been dinged pretty hard, nipping something other than lead or lead tin so consequently I'd have to see FOR myself how well the mold edges line up before spending $500-1000 dollars on it.Lumpy did you really think it would be a greaser mold? maybe they made them ,I've yet to see one though. bobw

Yup they made a greaser Bob. Take a close look at the cavity, no bore riding step!! makes it ideal for a chamber like you use and also my chambers with the long tapered leads they used back then.

Kurt I pulled a bullet from a white box of 45-70 from way back and they had a bullet looked just like that in them the nose was the same diamater as the base and the grooves were recessed into the sides instead of being proud as they are now, the bullet was 446 in diamater ,

Dean, Maynard used a lot of this type of bullet and the Sharps Rifle Co made some moulds for Maynard that they marked MFG.

Kurt, what's the weight of bullets from pic1 and pic3?
How did you find those moulds?
Gary

Gary those moulds are not mine. I borrowed mould 5 and cast a bunch with it.
