Glad to be here - Barvid - 01-14-2013 As most of you already know, I am not the most historically correct person when it come to BPCR, however, I am close to being able to call my 1874 Shiloh "my hunting rifle". I am working on a paper patch load for it and when I get that done, it will be my go to gun. As for matches, I will more than likely continue to shoot the rifle I have that is most accurate. Right now that is a 40-65 Browning, however I am getting very close to a 45-70 load for my Highwall that will give me options on match day. ![]() I am thankful that this board is here, for the education purposes as well as the entertainment. I do have an interest in the way they ran these rifle a century ago. Best, Barvid RE: Glad to be here - Don McDowell - 01-14-2013 Barvid welcome. This place is here so we can talk about any and all the "old" guns that interest us. So jump right in whenever/wherever you see fit. RE: Glad to be here - chaneylake - 01-15-2013 catch a ride in my boat Barvid, a rookie living in West Tennessee and learning about my Shiloh .40-65 from the comments and questions that I ask, at the same time being a "visual learner", reading just does not do me that much good, I learn as I try and fail or have success RE: Glad to be here - Barvid - 01-15-2013 Chaneylake, Do you shoot at Benton Gun club? Best, Barvid RE: Glad to be here - chaneylake - 01-15-2013 (01-15-2013, 06:35 AM)Barvid Wrote: Chaneylake, Do you shoot at Benton Gun club? no I have not, do you know what town its located close to. I have a 100, 200 and 300 yard at the house and will be putting up a target at 500 yards sometime in late February. I started this sport from scratch 2 years ago this past November, knew nothing about the Shiloh .40-65 that I have purchased used, did not know how to reload a cartridge nor had never cast a bullet, its been a struggle but starting to show some fine rewards RE: Glad to be here - Barvid - 01-15-2013 chaneylake, Benton Gun Club, Benton Ark would not be too far for you. They shoot every fourth Friday during shooting season. I would meet you there sometime and spot for you if you like. I been wanting to go there and see Harlan.
