RE: Phoenix 2020 report - Don McDowell - 03-06-2020

Don’t have any full scores to report
I do have a bit of brag on a couple of targets
Yesterday I shot an 87 -2 at 800 with the 44-90 at and the 435-470 bullet 84 hrs Oe1 1/2
Today the 40-70 shot an 81-1 at 600 using the dual diameter bullet and 69 gr of OE 1 1/2
It’s alwYs good when you can get a better score with OE and patched than some of the more notorious shooters using Swiss and greasers?

Good work Don.
Looks like the .22 count looked slim the photo.
Don't let the secret out with the OE Smile

Don,

Very good! Especially with the .44-90. Good to see, I worried those .44 BNs wouldn't shoot?

Lol I know the bottle necks work but it’s really cool to know these silly straight cases work lol
Should of stated it’s the 2.4 case
Think there are 13 muzzleloader and about the same shooting the USIMLT matches.
Haven’t got a full count on the 1000 yard match yet but it’ll be 20 some

RE: Phoenix 2020 report - Distant Thunder - 03-07-2020

I was thinking it might be a 2.4", but I didn't know for sure you had one of those. That's a good one from all I've heard. If I didn't have such an itch for the .44-77 I would have gone with the 2.4 ST, but that's just too easy for a guy like me that has to do everything the hard way!
Good shooting is always fun!

RE: Phoenix 2020 report - Don McDowell - 03-07-2020

I have 2 of the 2.4’s
Really like the cartridge but it will not replace the soft spot I have for the 44-77.
This whole match has been good .
From things They are talking about for next year it’s really going to be great
Hopefully by the time it’s over we can get some condensed results to post there has been some pretty spectacular scores put up in the Creedmoor and some pretty wowser scores in the midrange today.
The silhouette scores were ok but nothing exceptional
The conditions have been pretty darn sporty at times . Some of the wildest sudden wind switches I’ve seen and the mirage on the late afternoon targets has been quite the chalenge

RE: Phoenix 2020 report - Don McDowell - 03-07-2020

Tomorrow we’ll shoot the USIMLT long range ,Sunday will be the USIMLT 1000 yd team match. That one should be a challenge 20 rounds no sighters.
Then Monday thru Wednesday will be the World championship 1000 yd. 3 10 for record unlimited sighters each day
