ALL of this has been done with this rifle posted above.

It will not see the light of day again until my youngest, 9 yrs old will go on her first hunt. After such time it will be cleaned and oiled and put to bed, again. I'll probably hang it on the wall.

I just want to know what the hell is it? Nobody can tell me much about it, the markings on the gun is whats in the pics, thats it. No other. The most that has been "guessed" is that it is possibly a military weapon that has been sporterized.

It has a VERY tight chamber that brass fired from this rifle or fl resized brass only can be used.

Because of the history of this rifle, to me, it is priceless.

Back in the 1950s through the mid 60s there were a lot of milsurpMausers and Mauser parts floating around for cheap. A number of outfits like Flaigs, Herters, Numrich et.al took said rifles and actions, rebarreled them to 06 and 270 primarily, put them in a sporting stock with a turned down bolt and a blue job and out the door as a reasonably high quality, low cost sporting rifle. The Gun Control Act of 1964 ended mail order firearms and pretty well snuffed the marketing of rifles such as these.

Shadow 4, Your rifle looks like a couple of mine and they are Mauser 98K and Argentine 09 actions.

Here is one of those $20. 1937 VZ-24 Czech Mauser actions I put a Fajen Stock on and rechambered a .222 to a .22 varminter (.22-250) back in 1959 the wood, bent bolt and action came from Herters.
The bore is shot out now but it will still hold a MOA @ 200.
That rifle brought down a lot of fox and wood chucks.

Yes I been thinking about a 6.5-08 for a little longer coy dog caliber.
