Paper Patch Mold - Don Sketcher - 02-11-2017 Would like opinions on the best .45 PP mold. I'm looking for something that is .450 patched. Don RE: Paper Patch Mold - Kurt - 02-11-2017 Don, I use the BA 444540M bullet and it is a very good bullet. I use it in a 1/16 twist .45-90 and a 1/18 45-70. It drops out at 532 gr. I patch it at .501 for my throat but using .018 paper it will be what you want. RE: Paper Patch Mold - Don McDowell - 02-11-2017 Best is a hard thing to get a handle on. However any of the BACO .444-.446 diameter money bullets wrapped in 8 lb seth cole 55w paper can be made to shoot well. RE: Paper Patch Mold - Don Sketcher - 02-12-2017 I've been thinking about the .446" adjustable nose pour by Fred Leeth. Anyone have an opinion on them? RE: Paper Patch Mold - Gunlaker - 02-12-2017 I haven't used the Fred Leeth molds, but I have a few BACO molds and like them all. I use the 444540M, 446535M, 446545M. I also have their elliptical mold but haven't used it yet. Oh and the 500gr 444 Creedmoor one. All of them have worked well so far. Even the stubby little 500gr Creedmoor one shoots very well out of my 1:16 twist .45-90. I have a few Fred Cornell push through sizers in .444 and .445 so I can size them a little bit if needed. Chris. RE: Paper Patch Mold - J.B. - 02-18-2017 I ordered a pp mould from Fred Leeth a couple of years back and the product is top quality. Unfortunately my bullet diagram was out a bit and so the ogive profile isn't what I was after... but that was my error.. not his. Certainly produces a very tidy looking mould. Cant fault Jims moulds through BACo. either. They are 'top draw'. Even if not listed in stock, they can turn them out 'pdq' J.B. RE: Paper Patch Mold - Trapper - 02-26-2017 I am a fan of Steve Brooks moulds. He makes an excellent adjustable mould with what ever nose design you want. I ordered one in January and received it in about 2 weeks. That is pretty good time for a custom mould. RE: Paper Patch Mold - Don Sketcher - 03-01-2017 I appreciate the help here. I will be doing more research on this subject. In the mean time, I have decided to go with the KAL mold to get going. Don |
