68 SHARPS 50 70 original picts - ken s - 07-22-2016

[attachment=748]

lucky me. last yr. my wife asked me what I wanted for my 70th b. day.
20 minutes later I owned this Sharps Carbine 50 70 original.
$2K, but the bore is mirror new just made sharp bright!

I loaded it down with 55 gr. Swiss 1 1/2, and a cream of wheat filler. 030 card wad, and 450 Lyman like the original. 1 in 20..

It prints, from a rest, inside of an INCH at 50 yards...time and time again. I guess those Indian war guys were well armed after all.

this one is not, and will never be for sale...
Ken

Very nice Ken!! I too owned one that was re-lined by the factory and it shot very well. I used OS Dixie brass with 70 grains of Goex 2 fg and the Lyman 515 141 bullet cast at 20-1. Enjoy it and shoot it often.

your right Eric, those relined old CW carbine sure do shoot.
I loaded 55 grains. all in an inch
50 grains all in an inch
65 grains. all in an inch

darn thing won't shoot off center in one inch groups at 50.

mind you...NO complaints.......Ken
