fring pin - Gussy - 07-09-2015

My high wall ate a firing pin. It's an early 1900's coil spring action. I think it was a Winder but the block is not bushed and it appears to be a centerfire block (smokeless pin diameter .074).

Where can I find a new firing pin??

Anyone here drilled out an old one and put a new one in? If I can find a new one, I'll rebuild and keep this for a spare.

Gus

Get some piano wire the dia.of the firing ,drill the firing pin blockfor a slip fit.Insert the piano wire cut close to length, dress to proper length.Firing pin repaired.

You might call Greg Cameron in Sierra Vista AZ. I think he can help you right thru this deal.

You might also just for kicks and grins call Pete at CSA and visit with him. I've been told they make a very close copy of the original action.

Someone was saying that MVA is making highwall parts too.

Chris.

Good catch Chris. Yes I believe they have pictures of them on their Facebook page, and I know one fella that has received an entire action from them..

One other source might be DZ Arms. I bought a coil spring and helm lever for an 1885 from him a while back. I don't know what other stuff he makes though.

Chris.

I've got a couple emails and phone calls out. I'll post if I can find a new one that works. I'd like to have a new one for reference while I rebuild the old one.

Yes please do keep us posted. When you get something that works from someone, I'll ask you to start a new thread and I'll make it a sticky. This question comes up fairly regular.

I ordered one from MVA today. I will see how it fits and post when it gets here.
