Montana 1000 yd - Don McDowell - 07-09-2012 Don't know any of the other scores, but we do know the winner was Brian Hickey, with a 25 out of 40. If anyone has the full scoresheet feel free to put it in here. RE: Montana 1000 yd - Don McDowell - 07-09-2012 Link to the results. http://www.quigleymatch.com/montana-1000-yard-match.html Top 3 shooters Brian Hickey 25 Mark Scott 24 Jimbo Terry 24 Congrats guys, from the account Dick Savage sent in it was some pretty tough conditions with the winds and temperature. RE: Montana 1000 yd - Kenny Wasserburger - 07-09-2012 I know Jimbo was shooting his 45-110 Shiloh and wipping between shots. KW The Lunger RE: Montana 1000 yd - Don McDowell - 07-09-2012 Sounds like the wind got pretty ripped towards the end of the match. RE: Montana 1000 yd - bobw - 07-10-2012 Was rough, I am sure all of you have shot in as rough a wind as Sunday was or worse. It basically increased all day long while varying up and down in spd and direction. East to NE then straight east to SE by east. some full value to less than full value from the flight path. Started at 7.5 minutes R at target #2 and ended the day back at target #1 with 22.5 MOA right windage. Did ok on # 2 and went heck on the rest of them. the 7/10 on # 2 told me my load was working fine just came up short on the hard holding part and concentration. A little heavier barrel in the sticks would have helped. More than a few shot prone. 2/3 were shooting smokeless I'd guess. Don't really care about that anyway , I went for me and the experience which was still enjoyable despite less score results than I would have liked. The lever spring broke on my All Business rifle and luckily for me Dean had a spare. Took on the 1200 yd buffalo sat afternoon 3 shots to get the vertical (185) points and a 4th to dial in the windage I connected on the 5th. My load was a .440" vellum patched to .4495" 45 TGBS KAL tool mold ppb at 547 grs at 1-50. I wiped with 2 wets and a dry and I had to move right along to keep up. Had a good time and will do it again. bobw RE: Montana 1000 yd - Don McDowell - 07-10-2012 Bob thanks for the first hand account. RE: Montana 1000 yd - Lumpy Grits - 07-11-2012 Sounds like the wind was as bad if not worst than the '12 "Q". Gary RE: Montana 1000 yd - Semtav - 07-12-2012 It really wasn't too bad. Not dusty. Clouds helped keep it cool part of the day. Good day for wind calling practice. Some of us just had mental problems that wouldn't have been cured with a calm wind.
