Have the Willy's Cj5 getting rebuilt now, so will have a tow vehicle for when we need it.. Stayed tuned travel fans, this could get interesting.. RE: Hey Don!!! - knobsmt - 03-13-2015 where the pictures of this new gyspy rig .. RE: Hey Don!!! - Gunlaker - 03-13-2015 Sounds interesting. The CJ-5 is a great little jeep. I've always been a Jeep man, except when I was a Chevy pickup man :-) Chris. RE: Hey Don!!! - Lumpy Grits - 03-13-2015 Ok Don. Need pictures and some details. ![]() Yes-it is very handy for us to have our Jeep with us when we travel. What all are you hav'n done to your Jeep? Gary RE: Hey Don!!! - Kurt - 03-13-2015 Don. It took a long time for me to get into a motor home. I always thought a trailer was the thing. I went from a Airstream to a big fifth wheel toy hauler but I could not get into some of the places in the National Forrest I wanted to be, and man make a wrong turn with a truck trailer that is almost 60 feet long Well last year I got the 26 foot Motorhome and it sure is a pleasure getting around with it. The wheel base is just about the same length as the 3/4 ton pickup lower in height then the trailers short turning radius and a lot handier when on the road plus the fuel consumption is less then dragging the fifth wheel. Should have done this a long time ago. About 5 years ago I sold my two 1968 CJ-5's one good one and one parts jeep. I like the short wheel base they have for off road. Cant beat them. Last year I traded my heavy diesel pickup for a Jeep Rubicon and I drag it behind my Gypsy wagon and it's still shorter then dragging a fifth wheeler and I cant even tell it's behind. The Rubicon has a wheel base about like the CJ-7 but it has room in the back the 5 doesn't have. Kurt RE: Hey Don!!! - Don McDowell - 03-13-2015 Kurt you remember out old fishmobile... I sure missed that thing. I do like the 5th wheel for extended stays, but the fishmobile is just the ticket for grabbing the boat and going fishing for a couple of days, or taking the 4 wheelers up to run the continental divide trails etc. And it also works great for when just going on a 1 day or 2 day match.. Gary having the jeeps engine rebuilt, new brakes , ujoints, and exhaust.. poor old bugger hadn't had much done to it since it left the showroom floor in 1960.. RE: Hey Don!!! - Lumpy Grits - 03-13-2015 Did you find someone local for the engine rebuild? This is the 4cly, correct? Love to see some pictures when you get it back together. What's this new bunkhouse we're hear'n about? Gary |
