I have use the Staples stuff, and it works as well as the Setch cole. If you consider that most patches are only going to be 7/8 in. wide, maybe an inch if using a really long bullet, that's over 700 12 inch strips, that will yield 4 patches, that's 2800+ rounds.

I'm not 100% sure if I'll shoot patched or grooved bullets yet. I will probably shoot the Borchardt with greasers because that rifle works so well, but I just might use a Shiloh in .45-100 with Dan's PP chamber. I haven't wrung that rifle out yet, but it looks like it has good potential.

I'm hoping my 44-90 st is ready in time to get some loads wrung out prior to Phoenix. If not I'll drag along the 45-90 hi wall that has been shooting so well, and the 40-90 bn as back up, and they'll both be shooting patched. Have to find out about the midrange portion of the USIMLT match, whether it's a position, prone or sitting match, that will determine which rifle comes along for that one. But most likely which ever rifle it is will be shooting patched.

Kurt, how do you like the roller cutter over the "chop" style? And you do you guy's use the Seth Cole in rolls?

Smitty the biggest problem with the chop cutters is keeping a true straight edge.
I buy the Seth Cole in rolls, and prefer the 12 inch rolls because they are a perfect fit for my best roller cutter.

Smitty I used to use a chop cutter and it works fine if you only use not more then three sheets or it will pull the lower sheets. I made a hold down 1/4" aluminum strip 1" wide to clamp down several sheets that had a staple like I use for the roller on every strip then the knife would cut uniform strips. But the roller I use works very well.
I just cut some patches last night for the .40 caliber bullets and I used the Seth Cole 14"X50 yards 55-Y but I got 6 rolls of this when I ordered it and I will say that it's a bear to staple 16 sheets together like I do and keep the corners matching. That stuff is so slippery to work with but it patches well. Kurt

I found a Staples Store not to far out so I made a trip to get a few things I needed and I also found a roll of their 8# paper 12"X50 yards so I picked it up. I measured several strips I cut and this stuff is thinner then the Seth Cole 55-Y. It measures .001335" to .001293" I will throw it up on the shelf and call it leaver right paper (leaver right there)This paper is Staedtler brand 8# a Canadian mill.
It looks like a straight wood pulp paper and it has enough sizing in it to keep a felt tip from leaking through so it should polish the bore in fine shape.
If some of you have a three thousand deep groove and a over seized bullet this should work pretty well. I have a rifle with a groove depth of three thousands but I don't have a tight pp bullet
