Kurt I live in WA. state on the dry side. What part of the dry side. I'm in the SE corner. Mostly shoot in the back yard. Gus RE: Thinking on a new rifle - Don McDowell - 08-15-2015 When it comes to the 44's you can't go with the straight cases that are simply made by running the 45 xx case in a sizing die and going on about your business. I like that 44-90 st case a lot.. Also today I watched 2 guys running 40-70' shoot right thru some really nasty conditions and nearly clean the ram line... When it comes to the 1k line your 45-70 will do that just fine. So maybe choosing one of the other diameters might just add a bit of spice to the usual bowlfull of gruel. RE: Thinking on a new rifle - Mike - 08-15-2015 I really must agree with Don. If you already have a .45 and a .50, it's time to get a .40 and the .40/70 SS is a sweet one. Shoot sharp, Mike RE: Thinking on a new rifle - mustanggt - 08-15-2015 Gussy, Benton Co. RE: Thinking on a new rifle - mustanggt - 08-15-2015 Well Don that was really all this was about, spice up my shooting life. RE: Thinking on a new rifle - Semtav - 08-16-2015 well then if you are really thinking of a 40 cal, I'd suggest the 40-82 with a 13 or 14 twist barrel. RE: Thinking on a new rifle - bruce moulds - 08-16-2015 what semtav says + 1. 40/72 is a ballistic twin. very similar case capacity. 13 twist will allow a bullet 1.550" long. shot 900 & 1000 with one last sat. keep safe, bruce. |
