I will be using 2.4 and 2.6 brass cut down because I have so much of the 2.6 I use for the .44-100. Kurt RE: Hey Don..... - Iron Coyote - 05-15-2014 No problem Kurt ![]() I should have worded my question a little differently. ![]() What is the case length that your reamer will cut? The reason I am asking is because in the 7th edition of COW.,there is a note about the length being 2 1/2" instead of 2 1/4". ![]() THNX LOTS Bob ![]() ![]()

But there where not many .44-75's made. Reading some write ups in Forrest&Stream they gave very good accuracy. Here is the drawing Bob. Kurt RE: Hey Don..... - Iron Coyote - 05-16-2014 Kurt THANK YOU for the print. ![]() ![]() ![]() Printed off copies to add to the .44cal. file(which is getting pretty full) ![]() Your brass length should work out quit well when sizing the 2.4's down to .464". Really hope that you can find the barrel you are looking for. This looks like a VERY interesting project. THNX LOTS Bob ![]() ![]()
RE: Hey Don..... - Kurt - 05-16-2014 (05-16-2014, 08:54 AM)Iron Coyote Wrote: Kurt Well Bob you might just as well have this one also I been shooting this one for a short time now and it is one fine accurate rifle. The .44's have stuck with me through the years. I guess maybe I found out at a early age when I got my first center fire rifle, a .43 Spanish Roller from the back pages of the NRA Magazine because I could afford getting it for less than $20. RE: Hey Don..... - Iron Coyote - 05-17-2014 Kurt Thank You again. ![]() I have these saved, printed & backed up. ![]() My 1st. .44(.44-90 Rem St.) came to be because of a temperamental .40-70 SS. This 1 is a female I'm sure. Don't get me wrong, the 40-70 is a fantastic cart.,it's just the combination of this 1 that is less than ideal. The .44 on the 2.4" case has worked out extremely well.If only I could shoot it as good as it shoots. ![]() THNX LOTS Bob ![]() ![]()
RE: Hey Don..... - Kurt - 05-21-2014 Well there they are, my .44's ![]() Left to right .44-77, .44-2-5/8's BN (.44-90 bn) .44-100 Rem ST. and the new addition the .44-75 Ballard. I was able to make one sizing die for the Ballard but not the second one because the pilot bore was tapered to much that my smallest pilot the .437 would only go in 1.224". It tapered from .438" so I sent it back because I did not have a proper chucking reamer of the correct size.. Don I boxed the die up with some sized brass and it's on the way to WY. It should be in your mailbox by next Monday or Tuesday. The brass plunks right into the .44-100 chamber so now all that is left is getting the rifle done and making a second die. Kurt
RE: Hey Don..... - Don McDowell - 05-21-2014 Oh I like the looks of that straight cartridge. ![]() Did you get a barrel found yet? RE: Hey Don..... - Kurt - 05-21-2014 Oregon Barrel Co. is making it. It will be a 32" tapered round 1/16 ROT. RE: Hey Don..... - Don McDowell - 05-21-2014 That sounds good. How long did they think it would be before they ship it? I'm getting anxious to see what you can make this cartridge do.
