no thank you Dave on the southern living. I like the cold and snow better then the heavy sweat in the summer. I spent to much time at Ft. Lenard wood MO, Ft Chaffee Ark and Ft. Bragg NC to learn what sweat is LOL.

Kurt, don't worry about the load development. Just shoot the match and test the load at the same time.
That is my normal procedure.

Weather final broke yesterday and I got some time on the range. Used the C. Sharps 45-70 and some left over ammo from last season. First time out since early December so a bit rusty. Winchester neck-sized brass, CCI BR2 primer, 78.0 grains of OE 1.5, .060 poly wad and the BACO 530 grain elliptical patched with 100% .002 cotton paper. Seated .150 into the case. 300 yard reduced at 200 (SR 42) Bench cross sticks. Wiped with 1 wet and 1 dry and dry mopped the chamber. Bullets sized to .4505 with a Lee size die. Got caught a few times by the wind but not too bad of a target for the first time out. Scored 87-1x. ( on the SR target it comes up as 95-3x) 55% RH so with it's 34 inch barrel I'll need 2 wets when the weather warms up to keep the fouling under control at the muzzle. 7 at 5:30 and the 8 at 7:30 due to poor sight alignment. Did not get all the circles centered! Great fun to be pulling a trigger again!![attachment=1087]

Well Mike both of know that is not the best way Every year I go to Lodi and test my loads during that match and by the time next year comes around the lot of powder has a different number or discontinued so it starts al over again the next year, and again this year with a new rifle The guys that are west of the Missouri or the Powder River basin don't know how well off they are to be able to test loads at longer ranges then 100 or 200 yards.

Rick that old black pot is the pot used for cooking pork sausage and when that was done it was used for making lye soap.
It froze one winter when the flower betting was left in. So I better not bounce one off the side or the crack will finish splitting it. LOL
