Dialing in a C Sharps 1885 45-70 BPCR - Snocat - 04-12-2018

Got a chance to work on a chicken load .
Brooks 450 gr Swiss 1 1/2 60gr 62gr 64gr.with a .60 veggie.The 62 and 64 I used neck tension.
I also tryed a new to me wiping technique damp napa felt on the front of the brush and a dry felt screwed on the back just push through and falls in the container .Looks promising and should be easy and quick on the shooting line. Thanks for the idea Perentie from down under .

Very frustrating day ! Moved back to 600yds and could not even hit paper. Finally got it on paper but terrible grouping. Thought maybe the 560 gr lost to much speed and fell apart. Moved back to 400 yds even wourse! Noticed the thread lash was increasing on the windge adjustment. The locking barrel nut back out of the adjustment screw. I clean the threads and red locktite the barrel . I burnt up a embarrassing amount of ammo figuring it out . Lol [Image: 93c871f5d6ec6ba942fee00f1befeabc.jpg]

Whose sights are you using?
X2 on up'n the powder chg with the 560gn bullet.
Up the charge 2 gn, and load 5 rnds. And repeat till you're at 66-68gns.

Got a return call today from the folks at MVA today about my windage adjustment . He thought I had over tightened the mounting screws on the scope blocks .I'm pretty sure he was right. If you tighten the base screws to much it flexes the windage dovetail and it binds Then the adjustment screw backs out of the barrel. I told him I had tighten the barrel with tiny bit of red locktite . He then spent over 15 minutes having me check the end play and thread lash to make sure everything was in spec.
Then strongly suggested I never use red locktite again . I said.. I used red so I won't have to . He chuckled. Great customer service !

Seems we've all been down that road. I did the same thing with my scope mounts. They did the same thing with me, only I sent mine back and they fixed it right.

After all the smoke settled this is the load I'm shooting. Brooks 560c 50/50 lead & WW as cast .458 Pan lubed DGL.
74grs olde 2 f 30in drop tube .30 veggie
BR2 coffee filter under powder charge
Starline brass annealed 10 count drill with scocket.
Lyman short neck sized
Baco .457.460 expander
.001 neck tension
Just barely touched to take the lip off with RCBS die
Here's a couple 500 meter 547yds groups of the bench . I'm happy with how it is shooting.
