Bob--I ran some KIK 1F through my 45-110 and found it to be accurate but the fouling was a little more than I liked. The fouling WAS soft, and didn't seem to hurt accuracy. This was with a 480 grain Paper patched bullet and no compression on the powder. I think a heavier bullet and/or a bit of compression would clean up the fouling if you wanted to go that way. I was looking for a load with less recoil and found the 1F to be pleasant to shoot. Shoot straight, rdnck.

The 1F KIK was fair in the .44 but the .50 it shot good in it. Like Bill said the fouling was a little darker but it didn't seem to be a problem.
I havent used it much yet, less then a 1/2 can to see how it works.
When I get back home I will work with it again for the .44 it likes the slower powder.

Don I'm sitting in the Black Hills right now and it is raining very heavy. The temp dropped 30+ degrees in a 1/2 hour and tornado warnings are out.
I'm not stopping at Baker. I'm going to drop the camper at the Q if it is dry enough to get in and head up to Shiloh to drop a rifle off for a face lift and maybe pick up the Hartford if it is done.

Thanks for the imput Bill and Kurt. Fouling doesn't seem to be an issue with a 547 gr TGBS .440 molded bullet and accuracy looks good. With 105 grs and .25" comp followed by my 3/16" grease cookie the bullet is very shallowly seated. No grease cookie the fouling is a major issue. With the cookie, 2 wets and a dry takes care of business good . At the Montana 1000 yd shoot last year I found that as long as a guy gets right after it, you have the time to do this without holding up the line and "smokeless shooters" who bitch about everything anyway.I tried the loads without the cookie and its a 5 patch deal and still not assured that it is clean or the bore condition is as consistant as with the cookie. Still trying different load procedures but do have a load for the "Q". Last year I was able to patch the .440 up to .4495 with Bienfang treated vellum, it worked well but the paper was a 22"x 32" sheet and cost $5.50 a sheet. I went back to get some more and they were out and not getting any more. I tried Office Depot and Office Max but they seemed to be Yuppy stores that don't carry good patch paper. They other day I threw out some trash in the dumpster behind the office. As I was lifting the bucket I saw a sheath of tossed plans and the paper had that translucent sheen to them. Sure enuf, treated vellum, snagged them on the spot. Put the digital caliper to them and it read .0025". Patches up to .4495" and works, patching them dry prior to inserting them into the loaded case. Guess that has to be one of my better fringe benefits lately "dumpster diving" LOL. bobw

Wish I could do everything I would like to do also. Problem is I run short of money and TIME for everything I need to do. Work at work, been the Lone Ranger for 2 mths doing 2 peoples work and no matter how many times I count myself up I am still only 1. Been trying to recover from a displaced hip for a month now and that is kicking my butt too. The garden, the grass and trying hard to get ready for the "Q" made it all a no go this weekend to Baker. Plus Dean is tantalising me with molds I of course desperately need. Time and money, same I would guess as everybody else. back to loading .... bobw

Well I think the Kik Fg load I have gave me results atleast as good as the results from Fg Goex. I have among my meager treasures squirreled away about 5#s of Fg Express which works so good in my 50-3 1/4 . I am tempted to try it in the 45 2 7/8's , sure wish those boneheads at Hodgon would never have dropped it. bobw

Bob I'm mixed feelings on the boneheaded decision to stop making Express and Cartridge, because had they not of done that I might not of ever discovered what a grand powder KIK is...
