Took out the Southern Mountain rifle out this morning for a change.
One forgets just how good these old rifles shoot and the attention they get when you set one off at the range.
There were a lot of young Boys and some Girls at the range this morning with their parents and all were shooting the Ar's and some .22's. After a couple shots fired the questions started.

I always take the time to teach, as you did. Compared
To the black gun plug and play stuff, these old guns can be intimidating. It is such a loss when lifetime shooters never even try holy black. It is my mission in life to introduce them!

Yup, me too. It's tough to get folks to slow down and experience the almost meditative experience of slower shooting. Muzzleloading, especially the bench games, and things like breach-seating single shot rifles can be life changing. One thing that you have to get folks to realize is that they can shoot a small group instead of just managing to hit a large reactive target. Interest in marksmanship has to come as a part of it.
